What is the World Series of Poker?

The World Series of Poker, or WSOP, is a poker tournament held in Las Vegas.  It first began in 1970 and has grown phenomenally since then to now include 55 events. How much the winner of each wins is dependent upon the number of entrants and the buy-in amounts.  The most prestigious event is the Main Event and the winner could literally receive millions in prize money and the unofficial title of World Poker Champion. Winners also receive what is considered the most coveted prize in poker circles, that is, a WSOP bracelet (pictured here). Most poker variants are included in the WSOP but Texas Hold’em is the most popular by far and the Main Event is also no limit Hold’em.
